A Message From Principal Dr. Jennifer Garcia

BES Mascot Bobcats
Welcome, parents and students to the 2016-2017 academic school year! This is my 9th year in the Del Valle District and I am the proud principal at Baty Elementary.

I was born in San Antonio, TX and grew up in the Houston area for most of my childhood. I returned to San Antonio for my high school years and graduated from Douglas MacArthur.

In 2002, I moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas at Austin. I decided to stay in Austin because of my great experiences here and my dedication to the Del Valle district. There is no other place I would rather be! Since graduating, I have received a Masters degree in Elementary Education and my doctorate in School Improvement at Texas State University in San Marcos.

Our goal at Baty is to empower and inspire our students to be world-class visionaries who navigate challenges and think critically as valued, productive contributors and socially responsible leaders in a diverse, global society. We understand that a child’s first teacher is their parent and strongly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. This goal can be accomplished when we work together through a school, family and community partnership. I therefore encourage all parents and community members to take an active role in preparing our students for their future.

At Baty Elementary we expect all students to exemplify our three school-wide expectations, which are to Be Safe, Respectful and Responsible. I believe that success and achievement are possibilities for all students and as a campus we want every child to reach his or her full potential. With this in mind, we encourage our students to be on time everyday, work hard, do right and be great!
