Dear Parents and Guardians:
It is with great honor and excitement that I re-introduce myself, Nicole Brown, as the Principal of Baty Elementary School. I am beyond thrilled to join the Baty school family for the second year. My passion for education began in 2005 as a 3rd grade Bilingual Teacher. Throughout my career I have served students and families as a Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal in three Texas districts. My experience working with students, staff and parents has brought forth specific beliefs in teaching and learning.
1. Student must be involved in the learning process in order to fuel their thirst and motivation to learn each and every day.
2. Students need to be active participants in learning. Students learn best by doing.
3. Students need timely feedback to improve. As teachers gather data on student performance, it is important to share this data and hold students accountable for goal setting and progress monitoring.
The staff and I are ready to kick off the 2021-2022 school year. We have been preparing all summer to ensure that your child receives the best educational experience at Baty. We are pleased that we have many of our great faculty and staff returning and a few new faces that you will meet soon. Our school website will have updates and further information throughout the school year.
Mark your calendars! We will be hosting our “Meet the Teacher” event on Friday, August 13th from 3-6 pm. We are providing a staggered schedule to provide social distancing.
3:00-3:30 Welcome to students who ended the year virtually
4:45-6:00 3rd - 5th
This event will allow time to meet your child's teacher, drop off school supplies, go through their schedule and learn more about our parent involvement opportunities.
Our first day of school will be Wednesday, August 18th! Parents are welcome to walk their children to class between 7:00am - 7:45am for the first day of school. All other times, visitors must report to the front office and check in. Parents that would like to walk their child into the building may do so, after checking in at the front office between 7:00-7:25. A Hug Zone will be displayed to show parents and students that this is furthest they may go together.
In order to check in, a photo ID is required. Please note that school begins promptly at 7:30, followed by breakfast in the classroom. It is therefore crucial for your child to arrive at school between 7:00-7:25.
